Aviara Residents Enjoy Batiquitos Lagoon

Aviara overlooks Batiquitos Lagoon to the south. It is a tidal wetland, one of the few remaining on the southern California coast. The Aviara side of the lagoon has a two mile long hiking and walking trail. It is a pedestrian only trail with leashed dogs allowed.

The lagoon is comprised of 610 acres with a drainage basin of about 55,000 acres. You will find all manner of wetland wildlife and birds at this natural preserve. The community takes great pride in maintaining this beautiful wetland park. Fishing with a permit is possible at one point in the lagoon. Residents are encouraged to participate in the monthly clean-up.
