Discover the Colorful History of Anaheim Homes
Who doesn’t know Anaheim, California? Home to the Angels baseball team, it’s also home, of course, to Disneyland. Yet beyond those two attributes, people don’t know much about the real Anaheim. The 10th-most populous city in California, with a population of almost 350,000 and climbing rapidly, Anaheim is an industrial center, as well as being a central hub for Southern California theme parks.
Anaheim homes have one of the more colorful beginnings of any area in Southern California. Founded by a group of German families to be a focal point for vineyards and other agriculture, the city was initially named Annaheim — German for “home by the Santa Ana River,” which was eventually shortened by a letter. The grape crops were destroyed in the late nineteenth century, which were then replaced by other California staples: oranges, lemons, and walnuts. Initially, Anaheim was mostly farmland, but with Disneyland putting Anaheim on the map, it has become an industrial and commercial center.
